"How did you get to San Juan?" That's the question I get most frequently on the tour. I always tell them the truth: "an airplane." But seriously, how did a U.S. mainlander from Atlanta, GA wind up running a food tour company in San Juan, PR? It's as good a story as any I suppose.
I worked for a number of years as a journalist in Atlanta: Gwinnett Daily Post, CNN and the Atlanta Business Chronicle. I moved to Puerto Rico to improve my Spanish, pursue adventuresome freelance writing opportunities and satiate, to some degree, my incurable sense of adventure for travel and new challenges.
Somewhere in between freelance writing for various publications and teaching creative writing to kids, I met and married the love of my life, had a family and started a food tour company. Why a foodie tour? I've always had a passion for sharing stories with people and listening and learning about what a city or a place has to tell me. That's the journalist side. I've also always had a passion for food and eating -- who doesn't? That's the foodie inside. Combine the two and that's the Flavors of San Juan Food and Culture Tour. Who wouldn't want to share that with someone?
I hope I'll get to share that experience with you when you take one of our Flavors of San Juan Food and Culture Tours, where you will enjoy a satisfying progressive meal over a number of top restaurants in historic Old San Juan plus learn about the history and fun culture of the island. Hope to see you on the tour!
Buen Provecho!
